A review of strategy and business development options

The Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) commissioned Research Consulting to conduct a review of business development options.

Working closely with the FEMS executive team, the project was undertaken through an examination of documents supplied by the FEMs team, interviews with 15 selected international stakeholders, and desk research which supported comparative assessment against various peer organisations. The not-for-profit business model canvas was used as part of the delivery methodology to analyse and inform our recommendations.

FEMS comprises a diverse network of around 30,000 professionals committed to advancing microbiology for the benefit of society in the areas of health, energy, food, materials, and the environment. Set up in 1974, it is a coalition of 56 Member Societies from 41 countries.
