Andrea Chiarelli

Associate Director

Andrea specialises in open research, scholarly communication and research integrity, having delivered over 150 projects for major organisations. He serves on Dryad’s Board of Directors and DOAJ’s Strategy Advisory Board. He holds an Engineering PhD, an MBA and is a Chartered Manager.

Angharad Roberts

Senior Analyst

Angharad has 20 years’ experience in academic administration and librarianship and specialises in research strategy, management, policy and funding. She served as a Sub-Panel Secretary for REF 2021 and is a Chartered member of CILIP. She holds a PhD in Information Studies from the University of Sheffield.

Dan King

Director

Dan is a research and knowledge exchange specialist with over 25 years’ experience, including director-level roles at two universities and previous experience at EPSRC. He specialises in research strategy, systems implementation and institutional development. He has a PhD from the University of Nottingham.

Diane Revill

Business Manager

Diane has over 20 years’ experience in administration and supporting the business function of small and medium organisations. She has also worked in the public sector, assisting with people management.

Dylan Storan

Senior Consultant

Dylan has a background in scholarly publishing with hands-on experience managing journal portfolios at IOP Publishing. He brings expertise in journal strategy, editorial board engagement and research integrity. He holds a PhD in Materials Chemistry from the University of Limerick.

Elizabeth Thorneloe

Associate Consultant

Elizabeth is an Associate Consultant with expertise in molecular and clinical microbiology. She holds an MSc in Clinical and Molecular Microbiology from the University of Nottingham, where her research received an Outstanding Project Award, and brings experience in oncology-focused clinical data management within the NHS.

Elle Malcolmson

Analyst

Elle is a skilled Analyst with over 6 years’ experience working in the higher education sector, focusing on scholarly communication and impact. She supported academics with REF 2021 case study development. She holds a PGDE from Nottingham Trent University.

Frances Palmer

Senior Associate Consultant

Frances is a researcher and data analyst specialising in quantitative and qualitative evidence capture and has worked on a wide variety of projects. She holds an MRes in Psychological Research Methods from Nottingham Trent University and is PRINCE2 certified.

Liz Allen

Associate Director

Liz is experienced across research funding, scholarly publishing and open science, with senior roles at Wellcome, F1000 and Taylor & Francis. She has board-level experience at ORCID and Crossref and is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at King’s College London. She holds a PhD in Medical Sociology and Social Research Methodology.

Lucia Loffreda

Senior Consultant

Lucia works on projects across scholarly communication, open science and international development for clients including Wellcome, British Academy, UKRI and Springer Nature. She is an experienced qualitative researcher and is PRINCE2 certified. She holds a BA in International Relations and an MSc in Evaluation and Policy Analysis.

Rob Johnson

Founder and Managing Director

Rob is a leading expert on research policy, management and scholarly communication. He is the incoming chair of UKSG and board-level advisor to publishers, funders and universities. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, he has an MSc in Higher Education Management from Loughborough University.

Sophie Tinley

Associate Director – Finance and Operations

Sophie is an accomplished finance and business professional with over 25 years of experience running her own business or operating in a senior commercial finance role within a corporate environment.
