A growing team: Introducing Alison Riding and Sophie Tinley

Research Consulting is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Alison Riding as our new Principal Consultant and of Sophie Tinley as our new Financial Controller.

Meet Alison

Alison’s most recent role as Head of Research and Business Development at the University of Leicester saw her leading numerous research and knowledge exchange initiatives, including research business development in life sciences. Her in-depth knowledge of the academic research world makes her an ideal addition to our widely regarded and well-established team.

In previous roles at ADAS Consulting Ltd – the UK’s largest independent provider of agricultural and environmental consultancy, rural development services and policy advice – Alison provided leadership and delivery of research and consultancy projects to a wide range of public and private sector clients. These included policy development and implementation, sustainable land management and food and farming systems.

With a PhD in the analysis of environmental data from the University of East Anglia, Alison’s senior level expertise in the planning and delivery of projects, coupled with her passion for exceptional quality, is a perfect match for Research Consulting’s reputation for excellence.

Meet Sophie

Sophie joins us with an impressive background in the hospitality industry, having worked at senior level for household names such as Compass Group and the Hilton hotel group. Her rich and varied experience has covered every aspect of a financial role, dealing with annual budgets, weekly and monthly reporting, balance sheets, financial planning and forecasting.

For the past 13 years, Sophie ran her own business – a family group of children’s nurseries and school clubs in Nottinghamshire, which included the creation of an Early Years training business. Sophie maintained management of all financial controls across all settings, while also leading a team of some 80 employees.

I am thrilled to be a part of the Research Consulting team. It is an incredibly exciting and forward-thinking company with a highly professional, dedicated and enthusiastic team. The company ethos is immediately evident and I look forward to being able to add value and contribute towards the company’s success, whilst feeling immensely valued as a team member.
