Research Consulting Limited, a specialist consultancy firm focused on research, celebrates its tenth anniversary later this month (March 2023).
The business, based at the University of Nottingham Innovation Park, works with a growing set of clients in the UK and internationally.
The decade landmark is being reached at a time of continued business expansion as turnover reaches a historical peak and with the number of employees now in double-figures.
Clients include universities, research funding agencies, membership organisations, publishers, private sector businesses and not-for-profit organisations.
Founded in 2013, Research Consulting combines a breadth of expertise with depth of insight to support stakeholders in the global research community. The focus is on improving the effectiveness and impact of research – with Research Consulting covering all aspects of the research life-cycle – including policy, funding, management, publishing and commercial applications.
Rob Johnson, Managing Director of Research Consulting, said:
It is a landmark occasion for everyone involved and we are delighted to have reached this special date. We are a mission-driven and values-based business and it has been very satisfying to see over the years how the values that we embrace like trust, integrity, quality and connecting with our communities, have underpinned all our business relationships and strong performance.
During the first ten years, Research Consulting has worked with 129 different clients and completed 220 projects. About one in four of the projects has been for an international client.
The largest client base is university and research organisations, followed by publishing and scholarly communication, government and research funders, and charities and learned societies.
Rob Johnson added:
I would like to thank all employees, past and present, and all our clients, some who have been with us since launch, who have supported us over the years. We are also very grateful to the University of Nottingham, who have worked with us in a number of ways, including the provision of office accommodation to suit the business as it has grown. With the business continuing to expand, we are now planning for our next exciting chapter, helping even more national and international organisations make the most of their research processes and findings.
Research Consulting is due to host a small informal celebratory event on 22 March 2023 on the University of Nottingham campus to mark the anniversary.
