Investigating higher education partnership opportunities between the UK and 12 East Asia countries (China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam) to develop industry-university partnership and engagement.

The British Council commissioned Research Consulting to undertake a scoping study on University-University Links between the UK and 12 East Asia countries: China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.

This study was conducted by Research Consulting and Adrian Day of KE Metrics, commissioned by the British Council for their East Asia regional programme on UK-East Asia Higher Education Partnerships

This report is the final output of a project undertaken for the British Council to undertake a scoping study on University-University Links between the UK and 12 East Asia countries: China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam

The report covers three aspects of university-industry engagement:
• perspectives on the UK and East Asia context, developments and status in University-Industry engagement areas;
• country specific assessments and overviews to inform the potential for partnership development; and
• collaborative models and options to that have the potential to support partnership development between UK and East Asia universities

The public report makes a number of recommendations to support partnership development and industry engagement. Recommendations addressed the mature economies and developing economies as defined in the report.
